Breast reconstruction
Breast reconstruction with your own tissue (DIEP)
A new breast made from your own tissue, connected microsurgically.
Suitable for
- Women after breast removal due to breast cancer
- Also possible for slim patients after individual consultation
Background
When breast reconstruction is an option
After a mastectomy due to breast cancer or because of a hereditary increased risk, the breast can be reconstructed. This is possible in the same operation or later, once cancer treatment has been completed.
A congenital malformation or markedly uneven breasts can also be a reason. Which procedure is suitable depends on factors such as previous radiotherapy, the available tissue and your wishes.
